Rendition

I see a lot of movies but seldom I walk out silent, engrossed in thought and shame. It happened last time when I watched 'The constant Gardner' and last week when I watched the movie 'Rendition.' Rendition is the story of two couples Anwar & Isabella and Khalid & Fatima who suffer at the hands of terrorists. While the latter suffer the terrorism that masks itself in religious righteousness the former suffer the terrorism that masks itself in national moral righteousness. This is a movie that will sure make you ashamed for not doing enough to stop this kind of terrorism.

In infotainment channels, we always hear these stories. These suspects and suicide bombers are made to look like creature of a whole different species. But this movie, makes them human and gives us the picture we miss in our daily dose Hate. During sober pensive walk in the park after the movie I felt lost and hopeless realizing the sorry state we are in. It is the comedy shows like Daily show with Jon Stewart and Colbert Report which give us the reliable news and it is only in movies we get to talk about topics are very much detrimental to the future and development of the society. People are too scared to express these views....even though they feel the same.
